Political discourse, as a part of discourse in general, can be specified as functional and thematic. Political discourse is already a part of history and culture. Political activities are different and because of that functions of the political discourse also differ.
Political discourse is thematic because it is a part of a certain field – politics (political activities, political ideas and political relations). It is believed that politics is connected with power, the power to make decisions, control resources, manipulate and control the behavior and values of other people. All politicians have reached their aims for centuries with the help of “skilful use of rhetoric”, through which they try to convince their audience that their views are the right ones. Since politics is a fight for power, fight to put into reality certain political, economic and social ideas. In this process, language plays a very important role, because every “political activity is prepared, accompanied, influenced and played by language”
